Baja or Bust!

Who do I know that's been to Baja?

Yesterday, in my RE investing group, the location for our next meeting was announced.

Cabo San Lucas, baby!

For as long as I've been "overlanding" (that's the fancy word for traveling and sleeping in the back of my truck), I have wanted to do the Baja Peninsula.

I mean, sure, I could just fly there.

Tickets are cheap, and because thirty or forty of us go in on a massive Airbnb, sleeping is affordable, too.

But what's the fun in that? That makes it a regular old business meeting that just happens to be in a really fantastic location.

Driving there, well, that makes it an adventure!

Already, I hit up my buddy Mike Turner, who will be at the meeting because he just went to Baja, so he knows what's up.

Julia thinks I'll get murdered.

I'm trying to get her to come with me. That way, if we get murdered, we at least get murdered together. (Hey, kids! Party time! You've got some life insurance checks coming your way!)

I can hear the naysayers already.

"What in the hell would you want to drive all the way to the western side of Mexico?"

Well, the joke's on you.

I'm not.

Lisa at All Star Shipping will ship my truck to San Diego. I'll haul ass to Cabo over two days, attend the 4-day meeting, and then take 4-5 days to drive back to San Diego.

My friend Kelly, who will be in Cabo for the meeting, has an aunt who lives there. She's agreed to receive my truck and let me park it there when I return until Lisa picks it up.

Bonus: I'll pick up Kelly's surfboard from her Aunt's house, saving her the hassle.

Bonus #2: My friend Ashley will also be there. She's got a pile of softball equipment in San Diego that needs to get to Atlanta on the cheap. So, when I return from Cabo, that'll go in the back of my truck and ride to Charlotte for free.

Bonus #3: My wife loves Hotlanta. I don't care for it, but taking Ashley's gear there gives me a reason to take Julia. And we can go to Mary Mac's Tea Room for killer collards.

I don't know 100% that this plan will work out yet, but I hope it does.

Stuff like this is the ultimate for me. Working, traveling, and helping people all at the same time.

I dig it.

So, who's been to Baja?

And what advice do you have for me?
