So Why Don't You Change It?
If there's one thing I don't understand, it's those folks who complain about their lot in life but refuse to do anything about it.
You know the type; they are easy to recognize.
They say things like:
"Man, I wish I could do that. . ."
"Yeah, but you had a head start. . ."
"Must be nice to have parents who supported you. . ."
These people drive me nuts!
Some of them, I've been listening to for years. Same shit, over and over.
Complain, complain, complain.
Wish, wish, wish.
Yet meanwhile, they haven't lifted one damn finger in an attempt to get on a different path.
And when you ask questions, they've got excuses.
--> What are you doing to get out of your situation?
--> How many books have you read about it?
--> How many [often free and online] classes have you taken about it?
--> Who are you talking that's doing what you want to be doing?
The answer is always the same.
"Well, you know how it is, man. Wife and kids and this damn job of mine, who's got the time?"
And my reply is always the same.
"You, asshole. That's who. YOU have the time. The problem is that you're spending it doing things that keep you still instead of moving forward."
I have a hard time suffering these conversations anymore.
We are all products of the decisions we've made.
That's the crucial point - it's OUR decisions that determine where we are and where we're going.
Nobody forced a ring on or off our fingers.
Nobody forced us into a dead-end job, and nobody is forcing us to stay there.
Nobody forced us to buy an expensive house, finance a car we can't afford, or run up massive credit card debt buying stupid shit we don't need.
Nobody is forcing us to live in our current situation, and nobody is preventing us from escaping it.
Nobody, that is, except us.
So I say, if you don't like your lot in life, then change it.
DO SOMETHING!
Otherwise, stop wasting my time complaining about it.
