Black and White

Julia thinks I have mono.

Maybe I do.

Lately, I’ve had a lot of days where I’m lethargic. Zero energy and abnormally fatigued.

Today is one of those days. Walking up from the basement this morning - just 16 steps - my muscles felt tired like it had been 160 steps.

Later I went down for my workout and totally struggled. After a 90 second plank and 20 burpees, I quit.

Walked out and shut the door.

“I just don’t have the energy,” I told myself.

“It won't matter if I miss one day,” I lied to myself.

Bullshit.

It does matter.

It matters completely because what we do every day is what we become.

In terms of becoming, there are two types of people.

The first dreams of what they want to become. They have big plans, big ideas. They know exactly what they need to do in order to get there, but somehow they never do it. There’s always an excuse.

Too tired.

Too busy.

Too broke.

The second person also dreams of what they want to become. They, too, have big plans, big ideas. Like the first, they know exactly what they need to do in order to get there.

The difference is that they do it. No excuses.

Too tired? Too bad.

Too busy? Prioritize.

Too broke? Eat rice and beans.

It’s simple really, black and white.

Person one makes excuses for not getting their shit done while person two figures out how to get their shit done no matter what.

Person one only dreams of becoming while person two actually becomes.

I will not be person one.

So I’m heading back downstairs to get my shit done.
