15k in 3 Days
Yesterday a good friend of mine told me I was crazy.
“I wouldn’t do that for $5,000 a day!”
I told him that he absolutely would do it, as would most anybody.
Just about anyone given a chance to run three 5K races over three days at $5,000 a pop would jump at the opportunity.
Unless you’re Post Malone, $15,000 ain’t pocket change, and I suspect most folks would actually do it for a lot less.
Which is surprising, considering the number of folks who claim they want to be in better shape, but who won’t get off their ass to do anything about it. When it comes down to it, despite what they say, most people want the easy way.
A shortcut.
A fad diet.
A pill.
But the number one reason for being out of shape and overweight isn’t a lack of pills and diets; it’s the lack of willingness to do what it takes to lose weight and get in shape.
Come to think of it, for 99% of the population that’s the only reason.
They say, “I can’t.”
But what they mean is, “I don’t want to.”
Those same people, I PROMISE YOU, would gladly run 3.1 miles a day for three days in exchange for $15,000 in cash.
At a recent Spartan Race out in Washington, my friend Ryan saw a dude with no legs run the race. No damn legs! Pulling his wheelchair up the hills and letting it pull him down.
And nobody was paying him $5,000 to do it, either.
For that guy, “can’t” isn’t in his vocabulary.
Can’t is nothing but a low-down, dirty, rotten lie that keeps people from becoming better and better versions of themselves.
You can do it.
The only question is, will you?
